Why Your Support Matters
When we talk about research infrastructure at LSU, we often think about labs, equipment, and faculty talent, but LSU’s libraries are just as fundamental to that ecosystem. Whether it’s helping a graduate student archive their research data, supporting a coastal scientist with geospatial tools, or assisting an English professor with digital humanities, our work underpins scholarship across every discipline.
Over the course of a year, our main library receives more than a million visits from patrons, making it the highest occupancy academic building on campus. More than a repository of knowledge, the LSU Libraries serve as a hub for digital innovation, data-driven research, and collaboration across disciplines. Every successful research project, every publication, and every graduation depends on the foundation we provide. With your investment, LSU Libraries will serve as the backbone that keeps all teams winning.
Here are just a few of the ways we impact our community:
- LSU Libraries provides access to e-textbooks at no cost to LSU students. Since 2014, we have saved more than $31 million.
- The LSU Scholarly Repository is an open-access repository that collects, preserves, and publishes LSU research and scholarship. Since 2016, more than 15.6 million items have been downloaded.
- In the 2024-25 academic year, more than 57,000 eBooks and 530,000 eJournal articles were downloaded, and our online research guides received more than 487,000 views.
