About

Why Your Support Matters

At LSU, building teams that win doesn’t only happen in the classroom and on game day.

For many students, the biggest challenges show up outside of the classroom and off the field — in late-night moments when they aren’t sure they can make it through another semester or don’t know where to turn for help.

Students spend most of their time outside the classroom each week. Those 153 hours can shape whether they persist, whether they feel they belong, and whether they graduate.

Through leadership opportunities, career preparation, Greek life, student government, housing, and wellness activities, Student Affairs helps students navigate the parts of college that don't show up on a syllabus but make a difference in success at LSU and beyond.

We create the conditions and the spaces that matter for student success, where students get help, discover community, and find the right resource at the right time.

To keep building teams that win, we rely on the generosity of people who believe in student potential, even when things don’t go as planned. Your gift helps us meet students' immediate needs, keep them on track for graduation, and positively influence the trajectory of their lives.

Impact Areas

Your generosity on LSU Giving Day impacts the following priority initiatives:

1. Student Emergency Support Fund
When something unexpected happens, the financial strain can make staying enrolled feel impossible. A medical bill, a family emergency, or damage from a natural disaster can quickly put a student’s education at risk. The LSU Student Emergency Support Fund steps in during those moments, providing immediate help so students can cover urgent expenses and keep moving toward their degree. Your gift helps Tigers get through the moment, keep going, and win!

2. LSU Campus-Wide Lagniappe Internship Opportunity Fund
Unpaid or low-paid internships often require students to cover expenses on their own. For some, that makes saying “yes” to these opportunities impossible. The Lagniappe Internship Fund helps remove those barriers so students can pursue opportunities that build experience, confidence, and a path toward meaningful work. When students can say “yes” to an internship, they gain more than a line on a résumé; they gain momentum. By supporting this fund, you are investing in the potential of LSU students to achieve their career goals — a win for Louisiana and the world.

3. Bryan G. Dawson Memorial Recovery Program Fund
For students in recovery, college brings added pressure of new routines and less familiar supports. Established in 2022 in memory of Bryan Dawson, the Collegiate Recovery Program at LSU reinforces students' decisions to engage in recovery and become successful graduates and engaged citizens. Help us ensure all students find a supportive community where they can thrive academically, professionally, and personally by making a gift to the Collegiate Recovery Fund.
