Our mission is to help students apply science and mathematics to the sensing, communicating, and processing of information. This work also includes investigation of the electrical, optical, and magnetic properties of materials and the generation and transport of electrical energy.
Among the many opportunities within the field of electrical and computer engineering are careers involving computers, communications, automatic control, electronics, and electrical energy. ECE graduates have been successful in industry, academia, and entrepreneurial settings, both in this country and abroad. LSU engineers make an average of $86,000 a year.
Faculty conduct cutting-edge research in a number of electrical and computer engineering areas that make an impact on their respective disciplines in computers, electronics, and communications and controls. Labs include the Electronic Materials and Devices Laboratory, the Microarchitecture Laboratory, the Wireless Signals, Systems, and Circuits Laboratory, the Cognitive Radio Laboratory, and the Information Sensing, Learning, and Security Laboratory.
